John Cena in the Gym

by Kilo on June 1, 2011

Interesting compilation of professional wrestler John Cena lifting weights. I’m a sucker for wrestling, I don’t know what it is.

I started watching at the height of early 80s Hulkamania and it has been fascinating to see how the physiques have changed. Back then you had guys like Hulk and Ravishing Rick Rude–they looked like bodybuilders. But you also had men like the Junk Yard Dog and George The Animal Steele and Greg The Hammer Valentine.

They weren’t cut.

Many of the professional wrestlers I see today look like bodybuilders. This obviously isn’t detracting much from their athleticism.

Cena’s strong, no doubt about it. If his fan base starts deadlifting because they see him doing it, there’s no downside there.

It’s nice to see Cena lifting with good form, and moving some serious weight. I got the sense from watching him move that he was very athletic, and that the muscle he was carrying was productive. This footage seems to prove that point. Gotta like the strict, ATG squat form.
