A Slightly Unusual Abdominal Exercise

by Kilo on July 7, 2011

This is Joe Hashey from Synergy Athletics. I think the third or fourth guest post I ever wrote was for Joe. He’s a good guy, a good coach, and today for your abtastic pleasure, here’s a video of him performing an unusual abdominal exercise.

When I was training in the box gyms, I never saw anyone doing walks or loaded carries of any kind. I can attest to the benefits of both, although I have to admit I haven’t done as much one-arm, off-balance carries as I have with weight in each hand.

It’s an interesting feeling. Give it a try and see how it treats you. I’m able to walk fairly easily with 225 in each hand on my custom Farmer’s Walk handles from Stronger Grip Enterprises, but anything above 135 in one hand only is a fun challenge, and much more difficult than I would have predicted.

Thanks Joe!

Cool name, Synergy Athletics. I used to do these with dumbbells awhile back. Also liked doing single-arm overhead carries, too.
