Why The US Sucks At Olympic Weightlifting

An Olympic lifter, not from the US

I have never followed Olympic lifting when the Olympics aren’t actually going on, but I have friends who live for it. Lyle Mcdonald over at Body Recomposition has been writing a very interesting series that I suggest any of you involved in O lifting read.

Here is part one.

It’s going to be a long series. Lyle is nothing if not thorough. So far he has examined factors behind Kenyan dominance in distance running, track cycling in the UK, various economic and social factors that may be contributing to their success, and much more.

And now he’s about to start talking about some actual Olympic¬† weight lifting. Some people get annoyed with his writing approach but I love it. I enjoy his writing, although his personality rubs many people the wrong way. He knows it and he doesn’t care.

So there you go. He is predicting that the series will have at least a dozen parts. I’ve enjoyed them all so far. Part 6 is just now starting to get into the Russian sports machine.

Wow, reading these is quite a commitment, though I’ve enjoyed them quite a lot. Thanks for the steer.
