Dragon Flag Exercise

The first time I heard of the dragon flag exercise, it was in a book about Bruce Lee. Bruce had very, very strong abs. I can’t remember which one it was, but I also want to say that one of Dragon Door’s books also referred to this movement as Bruce Lee’s favorite ab exercise. It might have been in Bulletproof Abs (note, there really is no such thing as a bulletproof muscle).

The dragon flag is actually not that difficult once you are trying to do it and are working the progressions.  I was able to work up to it over the course of about a month, in small, steady increments. The tutorial above pretty much mirrors what I did with my own training.

Is it the most useful thing in the world? Probably not. This exercise is something that you’re unlikely to be doing out in the wild, but it still looks cool and it does require serious abdominal strength.
