Jumping Squats

I have never tried jumping squats. Back squats are tough enough for me. The guy here is going through a very limited range of motion, which a few zillion of the commenters on the video mentioned. Looking at this, I’m not sure I ever will. What do you see as the major benefit of this movement, other than another way to get your heart racing under a barbell?

Not sure that the movement would be good for your spine. Having the bar slamming down against you with some unknown amount of force doesn’t sound really smart. I’d go with power cleans to mimic the “drive” of the movement. I think it’s interesting, but I’m fine with squats being a “grind” movement. In the same vein, plyometrics would have a similar impact, without being as likely to create spinal compression. Just my two cents.
