The kettlebell clean is a simple-looking movement that still manages to absolutely confound many students. Some pick it up right away, some struggle for weeks, and I even have one student who tells me that she is getting worse every single time she does the clean.
She is wrong, she actually does it fine. I find that most trainers I see give way more cues than necessary. When I start teaching it, first I demonstrate it and simply say “Try to make it look like that.” That’s usually the most effective starting point for me.
