13 Minute Abs Plank

by Kilo on April 25, 2011

I will go on the record as saying that I’ve never held an abs plank for more than one minute. And I probably never will.

But that’s not to say that other people aren’t doing it. The lady in the video below holds this one for a long time. But take my word for it, after the first minute you’ve seen about all the excitement.

I’ve been trying to find some data on what the world record for the plank is but haven’t found anything yet. Do any of you have any idea? Have you ever even heard any rumors?

Don’t know of any world record, but I’ve got a group of ladies in their 50′s doing planks every week. They see it as a personal challenge and are now up to a 17 minute long plank. I also had someone comment on my site claiming to have done a 35 minute plank.

I’m sure a world record would be insanely long, especially with people doing thousands of pushups at a time. I think the world record for non-stop pushups is over 10,000.

You could probably surprise yourself if you tested your plank, Josh. Try a sequence like this one with short intervals, and I bet you could nail a few minutes or more:

That’s one of those things I’ll probably never try. The idea of holding a plank for any long duration is about as appealing as putting my face against a bench grinder. Still, everyone’s entitled to their own windmills at which to tilt.
